Formatting a scientific article according to the IMRAD structure

At the same time, it should not be overloaded with analysis of scientific sources: the literature should be relevant and correspond to the topic of the work. - Results. This section should be formatted in accordance with the methodology and based on the results obtained. It would be advantageous to include graphic materials (tables, figures, diagrams, etc.) in this section, as this will facilitate better perception of the information.
- Discussion. In this section, it is necessary to conduct a comparative analysis – to compare your own results with the results of other researchers who have worked on a similar topic. It is important to compare the methods used, the data obtained, etc., as well as to identify potential directions for further scientific research.

What mistakes should be avoided when formatting an article?
1. Failure to comply with journal requirements
Each publication has its own requirements for authors regarding the formatting of research. Scientists often disregard these requirements, using a different citation style, submitting an article in an inappropriate format, or forgetting important elements such as abstracts, keywords, etc. For reviewers, this is a sign of the author's low competence, and the work is likely to be rejected or sent back for revision.
2. Incorrect formatting of the reference list
Typical problems with formatting the reference list include different styles in a single list, missing DOIs, inaccuracies in authors' names or journal titles, and missing links to source websites. In addition, scientists often use outdated literature that is rarely relevant to the research topic in the modern context. Outdated sources can be useful, for example, for a historical review, but not for reflecting the scientific novelty of the research. For this reason, most peer-reviewed journals require that at least half of the bibliography consist of publications from the last 3 years.
3. Incorrect citation
A common mistake made by many scholars is combining several citation formats in the text of their work. Most journals strictly require adherence to a single style (APA, Chicago, Vancouver, etc.). In addition, excessive self-citation is also a problem. Some authors attempt to support individual theses with their own previous research, but this is not always appropriate. Excessive self-citation reduces the scientific objectivity and uniqueness of the results and is strictly controlled by reviewers during the review process. The acceptable level of self-citation is on average no more than 10-12%.
